Bioplastic is an umbrella term used for plastics that are biobased, biodegradable or both.

Biobased plastics are made fully, or in part, from plants or other biological matter.

Biodegradable plastics can be partly or fully made from plants or other biological matter BUT can also be fossil based. Biodegradable means that the material is compostable. But in the majority of cases – only in an industrial, controlled process. Left in nature on its own, a biodegradable piece of plastic will take decades to compost.

Light My Fire has chosen to only use biobased plastics. Please read more about our materials on our website. We are 100 % transparent and you can see exactly what each product contains.
