We source our wood from a reputable company in Honduras. They reuse the leftover stumps which would otherwise go to waste. They also plant two new trees for every stump they remove. This creates jobs and helps the local community.

MayaSticks have received certification under the SCS Material Content Certification Program for using 100% reclaimed material. This standard was developed by SCS to reduce pressures on natural forests and other sensitive environments while striving to meet ever-increasing human demands for wood and other plant-based products.

The Swedish pine (Pino Sylvestor) grows to a full-size tree in 80-100 years. In Honduras, the pine species (Montezum and Caribea) mature in 15-20 years and grow to nearly three times the size of Swedish pine. Also, our MayaSticks have much more resin: up to 80% compared to 30-40% in Swedish pine.
