Material

Recycled steel

The recycled stainless steel 12C27 we use share many qualities that makes a sustainable material choice. Steels natural characteristic makes it almost endlessly recyclable, without loss of integrity. It is considered the most recyclable material on the planet. Even though the energy requirements of recycling steel scrap are high, there is a large saving, around 60-80%, in both embodied energy and in greenhouse gas emissions when compared to the virgin steel.

Special features

The knifes spine is ground to a precise angle designed to ensure each stroke of the FireSteel produces the maximum number of focussed sparks. For left-handed use: the base of the blade, closest to the handle, creates sparks with equal effect.
